Cruz and Laura are both from Ensenada and connected through a mutual friend on Facebook. After living in Cruz's mother's home, they worked hard to purchase land in Colonia Choyal — but were nearly defrauded by someone falsely claiming to own the land. After a legal battle with the government, they finally secured their land two years ago. Due to the financial strain of the legal process, they built their current home using donated second-hand wood and a plastic-covered roof that still leaks in the rain. Cruz and Laura's greatest wish is that their son David grows up to become the professional soccer player he dreams of being.

| Maria | Mom | 41 | House Cleaning | $437 USD |

| Emanuel | Son | 13 | Student | — |
Fernando and Maria grew up as neighbors in La Paz, Baja California, and began dating at 15. They moved to Ensenada seeking better job opportunities for their sons' futures — Fernando works at an aluminum can factory and Maria cleans houses independently. They purchased land and built a home from discounted wood with a cardboard roof that leaks in the rain, making winters bitterly cold. Currently, the family faces extra financial strain because their youngest son Emanuel has damage to his eyes and may need surgery. Through it all, the family trusts that God will provide.

Prayer Points
Pray for Ensenada before you go. The city has over half a million people — many who came from other Mexican states searching for a better life.
🙏 Pray for the City
- That every person in Ensenada would hear about Christ and have an opportunity to know Him
- For the families living in extreme poverty — for provision and hope
- For new ministry connections and opportunities to reach more of the city
- That the children's homes, which are government-overseen but not financially supported, would receive the help they need
🏗️ Pray for the Build
- For the Alcaraz Melendez family — that their new home brings safety, warmth, and hope
- For the Miranda Barrera family — especially for young Emanuel's eyesight and future surgery needs
- That the build would be a bridge of relationship, not just construction
- For safety on the work site for every team member
👥 Pray for the Team
- For the YWAM Ensenada staff — that they hear from God and grow in wisdom as they lead us
- For unity, humility, and joy on our team throughout the week
- That ministry times would be fruitful and Spirit-led
- That what happens in Ensenada doesn't stay in Ensenada — that it changes how we live when we return home
